A Step-by-Step Guide

Cooking a Steak Skillet-to-Oven

01

Preheat oven

02

Season steaks

Season steaks on both sides.
Use your favorite steak rub or keep it simple with salt and pepper.
03

Heat skillet

Heat skillet on stovetop to medium heat.
Your skillet is hot enough when you hear a sizzle when the steak touches the skillet’s surface.
04

Sear steaks

Sear steaks for 1 minute per side. This will lock in all those delicious juices.
05

Cook in oven

Cook steaks in oven until internal temperature reaches 145°F for medium rare.

06

Let it rest

Rest steaks on a cutting board for 3 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute for the best tasting steak around.
The steak’s internal temperature continues to rise during resting.
07

Slice

Slice steaks against the grain.
